William Leckey Ferguson Wright served twice in the South African (Boer) War and then again in WW1. His first service was as a Private (rising to Quartermaster-Sergeant) S.N. 4 in the 3rd Queensland Mounted Infantry, Boer War during whihc he was awarded the DCM. He remained in South Africa for his second service transfering as a Lieutenant (Supernumerary) in the 6th Queensland Imperial Bushmen. In 1914 he enlisted for WW1 serving as a Lieutenant (rising to Captain then Major) in the 5th Light Horse Regiment AIF.
He was twice married, first on 6 Apr 1891 to Alice Scott (d. 1921) and had four children. His second marriage was on 6 Apr 1922 to Henrietta Louisa Paten.
