Albert was the third of twelve children of Burleigh Stuart Wilson (b1868 in Tyrone, England) and second wife Mabel Grace Dyson (b1874 in Perth, WA). Burleigh (a Builder) and Mabel met in Melbourne, Victoria and married in 1893 in Guildford WA. They settled in Perth, WA where Burleigh worked as a Builder and Contractor.

Albert stated in his defense 'I was in rather muddled condition'. Albert served in France and was transferred to 44th Infantry Battalion in December 1917. He was hospitalised with Trench Fever in France, and in London with septic arthritis to his left knee. Arthur was Discharged in February 1919.

Returning to Perth WA, Albert worked as a Labourer, and was a Cook in 1939 when he married Madeleine Mary Cook (nee Golding; b1894 in Perth WA). Albert enlisted in the ACMF in August 1940 (Private; Service No:W29176) and was attached to 3 Depot Battalion when he was Discharged in June 1941.
