Archer Alfred Hutchinson BOWMAN was born in 1892 in Sydney -
His parents were Archer Alfred Hutchinson BOWMAN and Zillah MILLER
Archer married Margaret Smeaton RODGER in 1911 in Sydney
He enlisted on 28th August, 1915 with the Australian Army - he was with the 4th Battalion, 12th reinforcements - Unit embarked from Sydney on HMAT Medic on 30th December, 1915
He was Killed In Action on 21st August, 1916, Pozieres, France - no known grave - His posting at death was with the 1st Pioneer Battalion. He is commemorated on the Australian National Memorial, Villers Bretonneux, France and the Australian War Memorial
He was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal

BOWMAN.- Private Archer A. H. Bowman, killed in action in France August 21, 1916 aged 23 years. The dearly loved and only son of Private A.A.H. Bowman (on active service) and Zillah Bowman, grandson of Mrs M.A. Bowman.

A credit to his uniform, our hero fell and so we mourn.

BOWMAN.- Killed in action in France, August 21, 1916, Private Archer A H Bowman, the loved husband of Margaret S Bowman aged 23 years and 11 months
He was only a Private in battle - just a part of the great rank & file
He fended for his flag and its honour -he laid down his life with a smile
He has fought a great fight in the trenches -in response to his dear countries call
Australia is proud of her hero - thought he was only a Private, that's all.

He fought for those he loved so dear - that we may all live free
And on the battlefields of France, gave his life for you & me.
