MELBOURNE, Friday. — Group-Captain Elwyn Roy King, 47, commanding officer at Point Cook, died today from natural causes. He was In the Australian Flying Corps In the last war, and was awarded the D.S.O. and D.F.C.
He destroyed 23 German machines.

His brother Flying Officer Francis Cairo King RAAF 400043 was killed in an aircraft accident (30 Squadron Beaufighter) in May 1943
During WW1 Lieutenant King AFC was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his part in a series of successful bombing raids on targets near Armentieres, including a train, enemy billets and an anti-aircraft battery, between 4 - 7 September 1918. He was later awarded the Distinguished Service Order on 6 October 1919. Lt King returned to Australia aboard the Kaisar-i-Hind on 6 May 1919. He re-enlisted for service in WW2, reached the rank of Group Captain but died suddenly at RAAF Base Point Cook, Victoria on 28 November 1941.
