    "…Of the 78 staff at Stuart (prison), the chief officer Harry Mahaffey, 53, commands total and absolute respect. Maybe it is because he is a quiet man, a fair man. Maybe it is because he served with the 2-9th in the Middle East during World War II, and at the outbreak of the Korean War got special permission from the Prisons Department for ‘time-off.’ He was with 3 Battalion when the going was rough..." – from the Brisbane Sunday Mail 07 Jul 1968
