Taiping is a town in Perak State, about 97 kilometres south-east of Penang in the north- west of Malaysia. The cemetery, formerly known as Penang Road Civil Cemetery, is on the road from Ipoh to Penang (Jalan Kamunting) at milestone 54, about 4 kilometres south of Taiping town. The area is called Happy Park and faces Taman Taiping (Taiping Garden).

Within the cemetery the single 1939-1945 Commonwealth war grave will be found to the left of the main entrance lane and just behind the plot of military graves dating from the mid-fifties.

C.W.G.C. now care for the 186 non World War burials including an unidentified child of a member of the Royal Australian Regiment in Plot H. Grave 32.
