The Only Bridge Erected Privately As A World War 1. Memorial in QLD
This War memorial is just to the side of the road about 50 minute drive from Maryborough or about 21 klm from Brooweena - A very impressive little bridge and a very fitting tribute to the men of the area that served in WW1 The men's Names are on plaques on both sides one side are the names of the men who did not return and on the other are the names of those that did - It's building was privately funded by Mr LS Smith of Mount Joseph Station It was opened in 1921 and closed in 1972 The Bridge has been well looked after since that time well painted and mowed around, there is a picnic table , a flag pole as well as a information board about the diggers that never returned .
