TARLEE 5411 

MEMORIAL: The original memorial was destroyed by a collision involving a stolen motor vehicle in 2012.  A new memorial has been erected based on the photographs held on this site.   It was dedicated by His Excellency the Governor of South Australia RADM Kevin Scarce, AC, CSC, RANVR on Remembrance Day 2013. LOCATION: Junction of Main North Road and Gilbert Street ORIENTATION: West DESCRIPTION: A white marble statue of a soldier standing at "Rest on Arms Reversed", with left hand over right and the rifle muzzle in front of the feet projecting into the statue base, supported behind the right leg with a tree trunk and surmounted on a four-tier polished red granite pedestal and a concrete block and slab. A red granite plaque is affixed to the face of the block. All details are in gold leaf.

Built RENOVATED BY: Pearse Memorials of Clare, replaced the broken original rifle and bayonet scabbard, relocated and renovated the monument in 2000, 1939-1945 plaque fitted April 2002.

Condition

In 2012, the memorial was demolished in a motor vehicle accident in. Remedial action was taken and coordinated between the RSL and Local Government (Clare and Gilbert Valley Council) and the new memorial was dedicated on 11 Nov 2013. The rebuild was carried out by Clare & Gilbert Valley Council and Pearse Memorials Pty Ltd.
