Robert was the fourth of five children of John Henry Green (b1892 in Booval, Ipswich, QLD) and Agnes Grace Feeney (b1895 in Kirchheim, QLD). John (a Labourer) and Agnes married in 1913 in Ipswich, QLD. They lived in Yarraman, Blackbutt, Roma and Ipswich where John worked as a Timber Getter and Labourer.
Robert was a Labourer when he enlisted in the RAN in 1945 (Ordinary Seaman; Service No:R27859) and served as a Bandsman (Bugler, Musician) on HMAS Crberus, Albatross, Australia, Sydney, Penguin and many other ships. Followining his Discharge in 1966, Robert worked as a Labourer and Storeman in Ipswich, QLD before retiring to Gympie where he died in 1984.
