1 Jun 1944: Wounded Royal Australian Air Force, Corporal, 51255, Milne Bay - Papua New Guinea WW2, Injured on 1.6.44 whilst carrying out duties of Cpl Carpenter on the bridge (Wittakers) over the Rahu River, Ataipe during enemy occupation and action. Crushed right foot, transported by hospital ship to Finchhaven, then air to Nadzab, and on to Moresby. Rejoined unit 16.10.44.
