Miss Strickland opened the first cottage home for a returned soldier at Cheltenham last Saturday, when Corporal William Campbell Bowden will find a resting place after his service, at the front. He has been through the Boer war and was four months in active service at the Dardanelles when he was invalided owing to heart trouble. The cottage stands on two acres of land and will be very suitable for poultry which is the use the Corporal will put the land to. As an example of what should be done for returned soldiers this has value and the poeple of the Hornsby district are congratulated upon doing their bit.
