"Captain P. C. Piper, D.C.M., of the Australian Electrical and Mechanical Mining Unit, who has returned to Australia, after four years' active service, was a member of the Adelaide Fire Brigade. He gained his promotion in France. After the signing of the armistice he held a position at the great British Thomson-Houston electrical and machinery works at Rugby, England. He is a son of Mr. John Piper, of Broken Hill, and was engaged at the DeBavay process plant." - from the Adelaide Advertiser 07 Aug 1919 (nla.gov.au)
