1 Sep 1915:	Enlisted AIF WW1, Private, 2149, Place of enlistment - Sydney, New South Wales
9 Nov 1915:	Embarked AIF WW1, Sapper, 2149, Embarked on HMAT 'A72' Beltana from Sydney on 9th November 1915, disembarking Egypt.
28 Dec 1915:	Transferred AIF WW1, Sapper, 1st Field Company Engineers
21 Mar 1916:	Embarked AIF WW1, Sapper, 2149, 1st Field Company Engineers, Embarked on HMT Ivernia from Alexandria on 21st March 1916, disembarking Marseilles, France on 28th March 1916 to join the British Expeditionary Force.
23 Jul 1916:	Wounded AIF WW1, Sapper, 2149, 1st Field Company Engineers, 23rd July 1916 wounded in action, gun shot wound, chest and left arm, admitted to 1st Field Ambulance and transferred to 1st South Midlands Casualty Clearing station; 24th July 1916 transferred to Ambulance Train No 19 and admitted to 1st Australian General Hospital Rouen; 25th July 1916 transferred to 1st Convalescent Depot Rouen; 27th July 1916 to Base Depot Etaples; 10th August 1916 rejoined unit in the field.
20 Aug 1916:	Wounded AIF WW1, Sapper, 2149, 1st Field Company Engineers, 20th August 1916 admitted to 2nd Field Ambulance with burns to hands and face from cleaning out dug-outs at La Boiselle, soldier not to blame and transferred to 3rd Casualty Clearing Station; 21st August 1916 transferred to 26th General Hospital, Etaples; 24th August 1916 transferred to 6th Convalescent Depot and on 3rd September 1916 rejoined unit in the field.
25 Feb 1917:	Wounded AIF WW1, Sapper, 2149, 1st Field Company Engineers, 25th February 1917 wounded in action multiple shrapnel wounds, legs and left thigh admitted to 1st Field Ambulance, 26th February 1917 transferred to 45th Casualty Clearing Station and transferred to Ambulance Train No 31; 27th February 1917 admitted to St John Ambulance Brigade Hospital, Etaples succumbing to wounds on 1st March 1917.

His brother Lieutenant Edmond Clifford BANKS (SN 14) also served in WW1 and returned to Australia - he died in 1971
