Knox was killed in action, but he was not in the body count of the people who died on the beach of Gallipoli and was suspected that he made it up the hill. Knox went to train where almost all of the 7th battalions went, they trained in Egypt. Knox was born in Melbourne in 1892 and all of his life he lived with his parents in his hometown of Essendon, Moonee Valley, Victoria and he went to school at Essendon State School in his hometown. He was only 22 when he went to fight in the war, and he was only 22 when he died. His panel number on the wall of honour at the Australian war memorial is 49. His parents' names were John and Caroline Adelaide ADAMS.

PRIVATE JOHN KNOX ADAMS (killed), was the eldest son of Mr. John Adams, McPherson street, Essendon, and was 22 years of age. He was educated at the Essendon State school, and had lived at Essendon for the past 21 years. He was a prominent player of the Brunswick Baseball Club, and played with the East and South Essendon Methodist cricket clubs.
He was employed by McKeon Bros., grocers, Sydney road, Brunswick. He was in the 7th Battalion, D Company, and went away with the first contingent.
