Peter enlisted on November 19th, 1914, at Liverpool and stated his name was Peter Considine and that he was a fireman working for the railways before the war.
He embarked from Australia on February 11th, 1915. After training in Egypt, he joined the 13th Battalion at Gallipoli on September 10th, 1915.
In March 1916 he was transferred to the 45th Battalion in France. He was wounded in the left arm and knee in August 1916 and in the left leg in June 1917. He was shot again September 1917 and on his return to the unit in April 1918 he was promoted to sergeant and on July 11th 1918 he was wounded for a fourth time and was invalided to England and returned to Australia in June 1919 on the “Ormonde”.
