Son of Patrick Joseph Quealy and Mary Teresa Quealy nee Heffernan of Hannon Street, Kalgoorlie, WA formerly of Victoria and NZ. Brother of Matthew Joseph Quealy who returned to Australia on 22 August 1919 having served with the Dental Corps.

Served a four year apprenticeship with Ralph Potts

Commenced return to Australia on 4 July 1919 aboard HT Norman disembarking on 15 August 1919 at Adelaide for onward travel to Perth, WA
