Son of John Philip Vause and Ellen Vause of Cheltenham Road, Devonport, NZ.

Commenced return to Australia on 22 September 1919 aboard HT Port Sydney disembarking on 12 November 1919 for onward travel to Sydney.

On 30 September 1917 Cyril was recommend for the Meritorious Service Medal for work between April and 20 September 1917 showed great devotion to duty while organising operations east of Ypres for the Signal office and especially transportation of cables and material for the front line.
