Biography

"THE LATE PRIVATE BOYLAN.

Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Boylan, of Cudlee Park, Talia, have received news that their seventh son, Private Boylan, died of wounds in hospital in France. He was a splendid young Australian, over 6 ft. in height and of muscular build. He possessed a bright and cheerful disposition. Private Boylan did farming and shearing work on his father's farm, and was 22 years of age. He was a skilful rider and enlisted in the early part of the year. Early in April he sailed for Egypt, where he took part in some hot and heavy work. He was for about a month in the firing line in France. Private Boylan was educated, at the public school at Cudlee, where he and eight other members of his family attended for several years. His brother, Private Christopher Boylan, is in England, and another brother, Private Peter Boylan, is in training." - from the Adelaide Chronicle 02 Dec 1916 (nla.gov.au)
