Cyril Daniel Victor MORRIS was born in Rockhampton, Queensland on 6th March, 1898

His parents were Charles Robert MORRIS & Mary Elizabeth MAHER

He enlisted in Holdsworthy, NSW as a Private on 23rd August, 1915 and embarked from Sydney on 2nd November, 1915 with the 19th Infantry Battalion, 6th reinforcements on the HMAT Euripides

He was promoted to Lance Corporal on 22nd August, 1916 but reverted back to a Private on 16th September, 1916

He was transferred to the 55th Battalion on 20th April, 1916 and to the 14th Australian Light Trench Mortar Battery on 12th February, 1917

Cyril returned to Australia on 15th January, 1919 on the ship City of Exeter & was discharged on 27th June, 1919

Cyril married Phyllis Eliza WISE in Sydney in 1925 - one daughter Patricia

World War 2 Service details

Cyril enlisted with the Citizens Military Forces at Paddington in Sydney and served full time in the CMF on 27th February, 1942 with the Central Ordinance Depot (AAOC) Sydney

He was discharged on 29th December, 1943 as medically unfit - his posting was the 5 Australian Base Ordnance Depot

He died of Illness in Sydney on 10th January, 1946 and is buried in the NSW Garden of Remembrance at Rookwood, Roman Catholic Section 15, Grave 44 - his name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial
