His parents were David and Catherine Armstrong, 53 Stanley Street, Richmond.
His brothers: 2630 Pte James Stanley Armstrong, 59th Battalion, returned to Australia, 15 January 1919; 3681 Pte John Hubert Armstrong, 60th Battalion was killed in action at Fromelles 19 July 1916.
