First Aerial flight over the Simpson Desert
Harry, was in a group that took two Wapiti aircraft from Laverton to Maree then did an aerial flight over the Simpson Desert
Dad was a radio operator in one of these aircraft.
The idea was to take photographs and general look over the terrain. The search was with as Professor Madigan from the SA university who took the photos.
The aircraft followed the iron Compass ( the train line to Mildura) then on to a base at Maree. The Aircraft just made it back from the flight almost running out of fuel. It would be hard to find downed aircraft in 1927. There are clippings on his adventure and I have provided all of this information to Point Cook Museum.
