Private George Arnold Bull was born in Adelaide, South Australia in 1886 into a Christian family consisting of his mother, Mrs Dora Jane Bull. On the 20th of April, 1915, George Arnold Bull enlisted into the Australian Military. George’s unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria on board the HMAT A17 Port Lincoln on the 16th of October, 1915, nearly 6 months after enlisting. George was 19 when he embarked for the Great War. George Arnold Bull was given the rank of private, the lowest rank in the Australian military. During World War 1 and George’s time in the Australian military, he was a private in the 15th infantry battalion. In the 47th infantry batallion George was wounded in battle.
