Son of Richard Usher and Annie Mary Usher nee Deller of Graham's Siding, South Coast Line, QLD. Brother of Frank Gilbert Usher who died of wounds on 20 September 1917 while serving with the 21st Machine Gun Company and has no known grave. His name appears on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Panel 31
Commenced return to Australia on 4 June 1919 aboard HT Mahia disembarking on 20 July 1919 at Sydney for onward travel to Brisbane
