Lionel Eugene BARFOOT was born on 25th May, 1899 in Lilydale, Tasmania
His parents were William Potter BARFOOT and Honora LINNANE who married in Tasmania on 15th January, 1894

Served with the 12th Battalion, 1st AIF.
Killed south-east of Villeret, France - he was one of 130 Other Ranks (O.R.s) who were killed attacking the Hindenburg Line on the 18.9.1918. The 12th Battalion was located south of Villeret and ordered to attack in a 'leap frogging' formation within the Brigade attack.
