Private Martin Davison (Service Nos:N199590/NX99606) initially served in the ACMF from 2 March 1942 to 20 January 1943 with 5 Infantry Training Battalion, enlisting in the AIF on 21 January 1943. Private Davison served with 65th and 2/14 Infantry Battalions in New Guinea, Morotai and Balikapan and in Kure, Japan. Private Davison was attached to 2/14 Infantry Battalion at Discharge on 11 June 1947.
Marty was born in Parkes, NSW in 1925, only child of Martin Davison (b1889 in Gunnedah, NSW) and Helen Caroline Coffee (b1908 in Parkes, NSW). Martin (a Labourer) and Helen married in 1924 in Gunnedah, NSW and settled in Condobolin where Martin was a Labourer. Following Helen's death in 1929, Martin remarried in 1934 in Tottenham to Isabella (Bell) Ross (nee McIntyre; b1885 in Carcoar, NSW) - Bell was Widow with seven children). Martin and Bell settled in Tottenham, where Martin was a Grazier.
Marty was a Farm Worker at Wilga Valley via Tottenham in 1942 when he enlisted in the Army - listing his stepmother Bell as 'a friend' for contact. In 1948 in Sydney, Martywas working as a Labourer when he married Betty Henrietta Smith (b1923 in Cammeray, NSW) - Betty was a Cleaner. Marty and Betty lived in Hurstville when they first married, moving to Dam Site at Adaminby, Eden Monaro in the early 1950s - Marty worked as a Truck Driver. In the 1960s they lived in Smithfield, Werriwa, where they raised their family and Marty was a Truck Driver. Marty and Betty separated in the early 1970s - Betty moved to Budgewoi, and Marty settled in Narrandera in the Riverina, where he worked as a Truck Driver and later remarried to Verna Jean (b1928). Marty died in 1999 and Verna in 2007.
