Son of Benjamin Barkway, Brockdish, near Schole, Norfolk, England
Advice has been received here that Walter Barkway, who enlisted in the expeditionary forces from this town, was wounded at the Dardanelles. He was 25 years of age, and was one of the first volunteers sent from here. He had one and three quarter years' service in the Garrison Artillery in the Territorials in England before coming to Australia. He left here in company with Lance Corporal Purtton (killed). He was employed by the Cement Company previous to enlisting. His relatives reside in England.
