My Pop
Robert Mckeown is my paternal grandfather. Known to friends and family as "Bob" he was the youngest of 6 children born to Ebenezer and Eliza Mckeown. Bob was born in Pymble NSW and worked for the Bank of New South Wales/Wales bank in Dubbo, Manly and later Perth WA for most of his life. Bob and wife Laura moved to Perth in the early 1970's to be close to their only son Geoff and his family where they lived in a flat Scarborough near the beach. Bob died of Lung Cancer in Royal Perth Hospital in December 1981. Bob was cremated and his ashes are located in a memorial garden at Karrakatta Cemetery in Perth alongside wife Laura, son Geoff and his wife Judy.
My memories of Pop are of a gentle giant of a man who had a wry sense of humour and a fondness for rolls of cadbury dairy milk chocolate.
