Lieutenant Minter was Orderly Officer for 22 Garrison Battalion on August 5th, 1944 when the Japanese broke out of No.12 PoW Camp near Cowra. Three guards were killed during the breakout, and an officer was killed the following day rounding up escaped prisoners.
