Private Percival James Roberts (Service No:VX115072) initially served in the ACMF (Private; Service No:V225481) with 16 Coy AASC from 2 March 1942 to 14 September 1942 and was 'in the field' in NSW when he enlisted in the AIF on 15 September 1942. Gunner Roberts served with 53 (Composite) Anti Aircraft Regiment in New Guinea (17 October 1943 - 10 february 1944) and in Borneo (24 March 1945 - 3 January 1946) and was Discharged on 5 September 1946.
Perce was born in Warracknabeal, Victoria in 1923, eldest of four children of Thomas (Tom) Percival Roberts MM (b1895 in Willenabrina via Warracknabeal, Victoria) and Olive (aka May) May Christian (b1901 in Willenabrina, Victoria). Tom was a Farmer when he and May married in 1922 in Warracknabeal. They lived in Willenabrina and Portland where they raised their family and Tom was a Farmer. Tom Served in WWI (Private; Service No:2441 and WWII (Sergeant; Service No:V406006).
Perce was working in Warracknabeal as a Mechanic when he enlisted in 1941, and following his Discharge was in Rainbow, Victoria in 1946 when he married Esme Lesley Gould (b1923 in Rainbow, Victoria). Perce and Esme settled at Daldee, Rainbow where they raised their family and Perce was a Farmer. Perce died in 2011 and Esme in 2013.
