Son of James Valentine of Arbroath, Scotland formerly of Ireland.

Next of kin was given as his sister Kate Valentine of Sydney Street, Sunshine, Victoria.

Commenced his return to Australia on 22 August 1919 aboard HT Anchises disembarking on 8 October 1919
