From Gallipoli, 1915
Pte. John Patrick Hennessy, “D” Company, 14th Battalion Australian Infantry, died of wounds at Tash-Kishla Hospital on 4th December 1915; buried in Ferikruy Protestant Cemetery. Today he lies in Haidar Pasha Cemetery, Istanbul.
He had been reported wounded and missing on 8th August 1915, later confirmed as a prisoner of war.
“HENNESSY. — Died of wounds in Harbie Military Hospital, Constantinople (prisoner of war), Pte. John Patrick Hennessy, 14th Batt., A.I.F., dearly beloved son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Hennessy, and loved brother of William, Edward, Mary, and Eileen, of 71 Dryburgh street, North Melbourne, aged 24 years. R.I.P.

Born in Melbourne, the former labourer enlisted on 23rd September 1914. He was the 26 year-old son of William and Alice Hennessy, of 3 Elm Street, North Melbourne, Victoria.
