PATRICK (Paddy) MAGIN born 1864 Bugle Ranges.
In 1877 he worked at Kapunda for Overland & Robb who built the railway to Morgan, they also built the Port Victor breakwater.
In 1879 he was an overseer at Mt Eba Station.
In the book “Reflections along the Angus” on page 220 is a picture of Patrick carting hay at “The Springs” and in the background are the ruins of the old Nestor home. Patrick said there was nothing around the area to amuse them until St Patrick’s Day races at Macclesfield in 1883.
In 1887 Patrick and his brother James, purchased Lots 62 to 66 in Bugle Ranges.
About 1889 he was a bullock driver at Coondambo Station with his brothers; James, Thomas, Edward & Stephen. One trip they had 4 wagons and 58 bullocks pulling 26 tons of wool worth £9 per bale.
He did this trip 6 times in two years. He also worked on Kingoonya and in 1892 was at Oakden Hills Station when he advertised for the information leading to the recovery of his dappled iron grey mare.
Around 1898 he carted wool by bullock team from Wilgena Station via Mt Eba, Coondambo & Murnpeowie Stations to Port Augusta.
He also worked on Blanchewater Station carting wool, posts and wire. He also carted wire netting to the fartherest west station beyond Tarcoola and shore sheep at Callabonna, Moolawatana, Coondambo and Wilgena Stations. In 1899 he did some gold prospecting near the Tarcoola Gold mines and obtained stone which assayed well.
Henry Richard DEDMAN was born on the 15th of February 1872 in Freeling.
