Biographical information from "Queenslanders who fought in the Great War";

...Is the eldest son of John Anderson and Catherine Louisa Anderson, of Mirani. Was born and educated at Mirani. Before enlisting was a labourer. Enlisted in Mackay 29th May, 1916, and went into Enoggera Camp. Was attached to the21st Reinforcements of the 15th Battalion. Sailed for England per S.S. "Boonah," on the21st October, 1916. Arrived in England on 9th January, 1917. Went to Codford camp. Left for France on the 21st May, 1917.Went into action at Messines, Ypres, and Somme. Was wounded at Hamel on the 4th July, 1918. Sent to the hospital in France. Returned to his unit in September,1918. Spent some time in Belgium. Left for Australia by the S.S. "Miltiades," on the 20th June, 1919. Arrived on the 5th August, 1919 and was discharged on the 16th (September), 1919.
