Michael (known as Roger - or Buzz) was the son of Lt Louis Bevan Burzacott of the 2/3 Commando Sqn, killed at Balikpapan, 3 Jul 1945.  This was a focus for Buzz's ensuing military career. 

Buzz had been an enthusiastic Army Cadet in the NBTHS unit.  He enlisted in he Australian Army, 9 Jan 1959 as an Army Apprentice (electrical Fitter) in the 14th Intake.  Following graduation in Dec 1961, he was posted to Central Command Workshop at Keswick, South Australia as a Fitter Elec (RAEME).

He was posted to 101 Inf Wksp in 1963 and then to 111LAA Bty LAD for service during Confrontation in Malaya in 1964.

While in Malaya, he took the opportunity to learn to fly with the Peneng Flying Club.

On RTA he was posted to Central Command Workshop at Warradale SA as LCpl Elec Fitter.  He opted for discharge on 8 Jan 1968 and enlisted in the CMF the following day and posted in his trade to 107 Field Wksp.

In Dec 19969 he was posted to Officer Training Group and then, in 1970 as an Offr Cadet;  graduating 2Lt in 1971.

On graduation, he was again posted to 107 Fd Wksp, followed by 13 Fd Regt LAD, 107 Fd Wksp, A Sqn 3/9th Light Horse (SAMR) LAD.  Then to the unattached list HQ Fd Force Group, 4 EME Svc Unit, HQ 4 Fd Force, 4 HQ 4 MD, before transfering to Armoured Corps and posted to A Sqn 3/9th LH (SAMR) in various appointments, culminating in OC of the unit.  He retired 23 Sep 1989.

In (1991?) he was appointed HonCol 3/9th LH (SAMR) and he continued in this role for several years.

Buzz suffered a stroke in late 2019.  He appeared to be recovering well, but suffered a severe stroke towards the end of Feb 2020.  He passed away 0n 19 Mar 2020.  By this time, the COVID-19 lockdown came into effect, preventing his many Army friends from attending his funeral.
