28 Aug 1915:	Enlisted AIF WW1, Private, Melbourne, Victoria. Transferred to Warrnambool Depot. On the 07-12-1915, one week after being removed from the 14th Battalion, 14th Reinforcements, A.W.O.L.
17 Dec 1915:	Enlisted AIF WW1, Gunner, 25565, Re-applied Town Hall, Sydney 11-12-1915 under alias John McCartney, transferred to Casula, N.S.W., Depot. Enlistment completed 17-12-1915.

21 Oct 1917:	Wounded AIF WW1, Driver, 25565, 13th Field Artillery Brigade, Gassed/Bronchitis. Evacuated to England. Rejoined unit in France, 10-05-1918.
22 May 1919:	Embarked AIF WW1, Driver, 25565, 13th Field Artillery Brigade, RTA per ‘Durham’ from Liverpool. Disembarked Melbourne 21-07-1919 “thence by rail to 2nd MD”, Sydney.
4 Sep 1919:	Discharged AIF WW1, Driver, 25565, 13th Field Artillery Brigade
