Mary was the daughter of John Carmichael and Elizabeth Carmichael nee Niven.
Resigned appointment due to Marriage in Egypt on 10 September 1918 to Major Edward Burton Gunson.
After the death of Major Gunson in 1950 Mary married Surgeon Captain Alexander Scott Mackenzie in 1952.
