His father John George Adams entered the following on his roll of honour form.
“Enlisted from Bruny Island in early 1915, and left Tasmania on May 15 1915. Landed at Gallipoli in September 1915, and served there until the evacuation. Died of wounds received in battle ‘Somewhere in France’ on May 24, 1916, the first Bruny soldier to nobly lay down his life for the Empire. Resided at Alonnah for about 18 years. Friend and mate of Corporal Thomas Vincent DWYER M.M. 4th Machine-Gun Battalion.”
Private Adams’ brother, 1806 Sergeant Arthur Francis Adams M.M., 12th Battalion served at Gallipoli and on the Western Front and died of bronchopneumonia on 7 December 1918.
