A very strong man, who forged his birthdate to enlist. True DOB 15 Jun 1923.
Didn't like to talk much about his time enlisted, but continued still working in mechanics. Married Dorothy Georgina (Bartley) Hewitt in 1947 in Gosford, New South Wales, Australia. Dorothy had two children to her previous husband Albert Fitzwalter Butler (NX52134 who died at sea as a POW on the Rakuyo Maru).
Stafford treated Arthur and Gloria as his own, and welcomed William (Bill) and Lea with Dorothy.
Became a Grandfather (Poppy) to 10 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
