Percy Boelke enlisted initially on 13 December 1915. He was admitted to the 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, North Adelaide and later the Military Hospital at Keswick with Mental Derangement. Percy was discharged from the A.I.F. at Adelaide on 18 April 1916 as medically unfit due to Acute Mania. He re-enlisted on 22 May 1916 and was again discharged as medically unfit five days later.
Percy re-enlisted on 21 May 1917 and embarked for active service abroad on 4 August. He was admitted to hospital at sea with Influenza. Percy was admitted to the ship’s hospital with Insanity and transferred to a hospital at Panama, prior to boarding the Marama for return to Australia. He disembarked at New Zealand and was admitted to Porirua Mental Hospital. On 9 April 1918 Percy returned to Adelaide and was admitted to the 15th General Hospital at Torrens Park with Dementia and was discharged for a final time on 9 October.
