Son of Sydney Milton Bawden and Dorrothy Bawden nee Bails of Tumby Bay, SA. Brother of Sylvia Dorothy Bawden, Frederick Lewis Bawden who returned to Australia on 8 August 1918 having served with the 48th Battalion, Gladys Doris Bawden, Wilfred Robert Bawden, Peta Eugene Bawden, Edna Pauline Bawden and Sydney Lionel Bawden
Commenced return to Australia on 4 March 1919 on board HT Port Sydney disembarking on the 13 April 1919
On 16 August 1920 Milton married Gwendoline Mary Cock in the Holy Trinity Church, Adelaide, SA
