POW Escape
Friday 19 October1917: Captain John Eldrid Mott, 48th Battalion, A.I.F. who escaped from a prison camp in Germany, has arrived in London. He hid in sewers and bushes, and swam rivers in the course of his six days' journey over 100 miles to safety.
