Private Alan Kenneth Kemp (Service No:W6621) enlisted in the ACMF on 20 March 1942 - in 1929 he had served two years with the Militia (Corporal) attached to 44th Battalion and four years with the Naval Reserve. Private Kemp was attached to 2 Battalion VDC when he was Discharged on 31 July 1945.
Born in 1909 in Kalgoorlie WA, Alan was the eldest of three children of Walter (Wally) Kenneth Kemp (b1884 at Picola, Moira, Victoria) and Alberta Louisa Gilham (b1886 at Fyan's Creek nr Stawell, Victoria). Wally (a Painter with the WAGR) and Alberta married in 1907 in Coolgardie WA where they lived until the mid 1920s when the family moved to Claremont - Wally continued working as a Painter with the WAGR.
Alan was a Wood Machinist in Claremont in 1933 when he married Marjorie Frances Moore (b1912 in Donnybrook, WA). Alan and Marjorie settled in Claremont where Alan worked as a Wood Machinist. Marjorie died in 1949 and in 1964 Alan remarried - Rita May Plum (nee Powell; b1920). Alan died in 1965 and Rita in 1992.
