Corporal Archibald Murray Dawson (Service No:W7411) served with the ACMF from 25 April 1942 to 15 October 1945. Initially a Private, he was promoted to Corporal on 29 January 1944 and attended Tactical Training School Albany. Corporal Dawson was attached to 10th Battalion (WA) VDC at Discharge on 15 October 1945.

Born in 1915 in Katanning WA, Murray was eldest of three children of Arthur (Archie) Archibald Dawson (b1889 in Balaklave, South Australia) and Catherine Elizabeth Brown (b1887 at Port Pirie, South Australia). By 1913 Archie was a Farmer at Bullock Hill nr Katanning WA and Catherine was living on her parents' farm - Kingston Farm in Dumbleyung, WA. Archie and Catherine married in 1914 in Katanning, WA and settled at Bullock Hill where they raised their family and Archie was a Farmer. 

Murray was a Farmer at Dumbleyung WA when in 1940 he married Eileen McClure (b1917 in Wagin, WA). Murray and Eileen lived in Dumbleyung and Perth - Eileen was a professional Golfer, champion golfer and Captain of the WA Ladies' Golf Team. Murray was a country cricketer ('one of the best country cricketers in the state') and a champion golfer - he became a celebrated golf course designer (eg 1972: Dampier Golf Club). Murray died in 1999 and Eileen in 2011.
