Allan was born in 1913 in Coolgardie WA, the second of ten children of Charles John Brinkworth (b1881 in Clare, South Australia) and Mary Ann Cecilia Turnbull (b1889 in Wyndham, New Zealand). Charles (a Farmer) and Mary married in Kattanning in 1909 and lived there until the mid 1910's when Charles began working for the WAGR. Charles was an Assistant Station Manager and Station Manager for WAGR, and he and his family lived in Coolgardie, Cuballan, Narrogin, Northam, Albany, Clackline and Perth.
In 1938 Allan was working as a Labourer in Northam when he married Mary Frances Coates (b1914 in Northam WA). Allan and Mary settled at Clackline in Northam WA and Allan worked as a Labourer. In 1942 Allan (aka Sprinkler to his mates) enlisted in the Australian Army (Private; Service No:WX34603) and was attached to 11th Infantry Battalion when he was Discharged in May 1945.
Returning to Clackline in Northam, Allan was working as a Labourer when he died in April 1951. Mary moved to Perth WA in 1954, and was in Merredin WA when she died in 1961.
