Private Kevin Anthony Curley (Service No:V50264) enlisted in the ACMF in July 1940 and served with 2nd Training Battalion before enlisting in the AIF in November (Service No:VX39010). Private Curley served in New Guinea and the Middle East with 2nd/22nd Infantry Battalion and was hospitalised on several occasions with Malaria. He was attached to 2nd/23rd Infantry Battalion when he was Discharged (Medically Unfit) in August 1943. Brother Basil (Service No:V50649) also served in WWII.
The youngest of two children, Kevin was born in 1921 in Ballarat, Victoria to James Patrick Curley (b1873 at Golden Plains nr Ballarat, Victoria) and Mary Josephine Murphy (b1888 in Murtoa, Wimmera, Victoria). James (a Commission Agent) and Mary married in 1918 in Streatham, Victoria. James worked as a Commission Agent in Ballarat, Victoria.
Kevin was a Motor Mechanic in Ballarat, Victoria and following his service he returned to Ballarat where in 1946 he married Ruth Iles (b1923 in Creswick nr Ballarat, Victoria). By 1949 Kevin and Ruth had relocated to Melbourne, Victoria where they settled and Kevin worked as a Technician and Supervisor. Kevin died in 1981 and Ruth in 1984.
