On discharge, Charles Arthur Lewis (8942) held the rank of Sergeant with the 5th Field Artillery Brigade. He was returned to Australia on the "Aeneas" suffering from "Indigestion" and was discharged unfit for duty. The family story was that he had been affected by drinking water tainted with mustard gas.
