Thomas grew up in Perth WA, the second youngest of twelve children of Burleigh Stuart Wilson (b1868 in Tyrone, Ireland) and his second wife Mabel Grace Dyson (b1874 in Perth, WA). Burleigh emigrated in 1875 with his parents and siblings, arriving in Melbourne, Victoria on board the Northampton. He and Mabel met in Melbourne, Victoria and married in Guildford, WA in 1893. Burleigh worked in Perth as a Builder and Contractor.
Thomas was working as a Labourer in Perth, WA in August 1940 when he enlisted in the Australian Army. He was a Private (Service No:WX7554) attached to 2/13 Field Ambulance when he was Discharged in December 1945. Brothers George and Albert served in WWI and Albert and Hector served in WWII.
Returning to Perth, WA Thomas worked as a Cellarman and Labourer. He died in 1973.
