Charles Stewart ALLERDICE was born on 31st August, 1893 in Bowral, NSW
His parents were William ALLERDICE and Elizabeth Ann TAYLOR who married in NSW in 1880 - they were living in "Hazeldean" Carrington Avenue, Hurstville in 1914
He had previous service in the Scottish Rifles and was still serving when he enlisted for WW1

Charles Stewart Allerdice was born at Bowral on August 31, 1893, and was educated at the Hurstville and Cleveland Street Public Schools. He was the youngest son of Mr. William Allerdice, now of Hurstville. He entered the Lintype engineering department of the Sydney Morning Herald as an apprentice at the beginning of March, 1910.
A member of the old Scottish rifles, he was one of the first to enlist from the office. He sailed with the rank of Lance Corporal in October, 1914, with the First Infantry Brigade, and proceeded to Egypt. He took part in the memorable first landing at Gallipoli, and was in all the heavy fighting which ensued till the Lone Pine engagement, in which he was killed in August, 1915.
