Red Cross file, “Casualty belonged to same section and platoon as informant, and was under the informant. Casualty, together with 50 other men of the Company, got into a boat from the transport “Galeka”. They proceeded to row towards the shore and when within 20 yards of the shore most of the crew were wounded, including casualty. Informant actually saw casualty shot and the boat sink 10 yards from the shore. There were several saved, but the casualty was not pulled from the water. 1004 Corporal J. Carlile 7th Bn. AIF.
