Petty Officer Dies On Active Service
Mrs. Gyss, of Palm avenue, Royal Park, has been notified of the death on April 12 [9th] of her husband, Stoker Petty Officer Louis Anton Gyss, 21, as a result of enemy action.
Petty Officer Gyss joined the Navy in August, 1939, and after training at Flinders Naval Depot saw active service. He was promoted to the rank of petty officer last year.
Petty Officer Gyss was educated at Alberton and Port Adelaide Central Schools. He was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. L. Gyss, of Royal Park. - The News, 21 April 1942 (nla.gov.au).
